The Cobra that bit Eric Bortz will live, Not only did a wildlife educator in Massachusetts buy the Cobra but he also purchased the Rattle snake and Copperhead. that Bortz kept. I for one am actually surprised as I had already figured the snakes had been destroyed so its sweet to know they have a new home. Officials cited department policy for not releasing the name of the new keeper.

Snake owner billed $650
A lot of you may remember the name Melissa Moorhouse. Melissa is the one who lost her snake on the train in Boston. The MBTA claims the bill is in part to pay the work crews who had to scrub down and disinfect the train car which the snake was found in. They also explained that she violated their pet policy by not having her per secured on the train.
Reptile rescuer honored in Utah
Salt Lake County officials honored James Dix as the 2011 Vital Volunteer last week. He runs a rescue from his home and is often call on by authorities dealing with snakes and other exotic pets. He dose have permits to keep, rescue, provide care and exhibit exotic animals and snake species. Not only dose James rescue reptiles but also offers handling classes to authorities. Currently he cares for 850 different reptiles and says he plans to move to a commercial building soon. Keep up the great work James, you are an inspiration the the reptile community.
Tortoise trader arrested.
A woman was arrested with 85 tortoises today. The woman, 42 year old Asha Mandal from Bihar was involved in the illegal trade of tortoises, snakes, hides and wild animals in various states. India banned the trade of Tortoises but lax law bring traders to the area. Normaly the tortoises are used for their meat or for medicinal purposes.
Kids take lizard from Blue Mountains National Park
4 youths were stopped by police at Blue Mountains National Park at Glenbrook on Saturday. One of them was found with a lizard that he intended to remove from the park which is a wildlife violation. The youth is also facing drug possession charges after police for pot on him as well.
